If you’ve been a fan of X Factor over the years, you’re bound to remember some of the novelty ‘joke’ acts who left us mindblown when they secured their place on the live shows.
Just when we thought we’d seen the back of some of them, some of the best-known acts of the ITV show are set to appear on our screens once again in a Christmas advert by Peacocks – yes, really.
The advert which set to broadcast during the festive season will feature Jedward, Honey G, Wagner and arguably the far more talented Sam Bailey who won the show back in 2013 – but people don’t seem too impressed by the big announcement.
Creator of the ad Matt Barraclough from ABF Pictures stated: “Peacocks challenged us to create something fun and memorable that would appeal to their core customer. We started with the strapline ‘All you need to do is the wrapping.’ The rest just fell in to place from there. We think we’ve produced something that will really stand out on TV and give the brand a big push for the busy Christmas period.”
The infamous Jedward duo who split the opinions of the nation when they took part in the show in 2009 are the first stars to appear in the ad, singing: “Deck the halls with rhymes from Honey”, before rapper Honey G steals the scene adding: “Peacocks just sleighed it”. So, as you may have guessed by now, the entirety of the ad is made up of the five X Factor stars singing and rapping throughout – ah well, at least it will be a bit of fun, eh?
Head of marketing for Peacocks, Wayne Thomas also revealed the reason behind choosing X Factor stars for their campaign: “We chose this creative based on the standout ideas from the team at ABF. We loved the rap and thought this really made the ad jump off the screen. The whole production process was a fantastic and memorable experience. We can’t wait to see the ads on TV.”
Despite the enthusiasm of bosses to make the ad a firm-favourite with viewers this season, all fans are thinking right now is – CRINGE. A few X-Factor rejects…that’s all we need to put us in the festive spirit…
That's me never shopping at @peacocks ever again just for that drastic piece of rubbish they call a Christmas advert so that's 2 places I won't shop now peacocks and @sainsburys because there ads are both horrendous ?☹?

Lasting for a whole 30 seconds, the ad finishes with the tagline: “Peacocks – All you need to do is the wrapping” – painful.
Discussing the project before the release, According to Telly Mix, Jedward seemed highly enthusiastic about the ad, stating: “It’s 2017, we’re still rocking it, we’re doing a massive commercial for Peacocks. They have gone all out. I feel this is going to go down in history as the best Christmas commercial ever to exist in the whole planet.”
“It’s so memorable. I’d never thought we’d be collaborating with Honey G but this rap is sick and we’re going to shut it down,” the boys continued. “I’ve never heard a song like this before. The tones we’re getting, it’s just such a feel-good song. My favourite part was in the sleigh, it was so magical.”
Whilst Honey G added: “I was excited to work on this project because I’ve never worked with such a large retailer before. Everyone’s brought their own personality in their own way.”
Sam Bailey simply stated that she was absolutely “exhausted” after a full day of filming with Jedward. Hmm, we can imagine.
The ad dropped just a few days after John Lewis’ long-awaited Christmas ad made its way to our screens last Friday. #MoztheMonster by the large chain store reportedly cost a whopping £1 million to create, but doesn’t appear to have won the hearts of the nation as in previous years, so perhaps this year’s Peacocks ad will take it’s place…

Whatever happened to Jedward?
Whilst Jedward is believed to have stayed out of the public eye over the last few years, the pair had to go to the High Court in Dublin last weekend as they faced legal action against a merchanding agreement.
Limerick businessman Patrick Joseph Noon claimed losses of €625,000 of Jedward merchandise and even alleged that he couldn’t sell a Jedward board game, which set him back approximately €250,000.
The 26-year-old twins made their way to court with parents John Grimes and Susanna Cordon, although they have been reported to have lost contact during recent years.
The court stated that the case had been solved confidentially.
What has Honey G been up to recently?
Honey G claims she was asked to sign-up to take part in the Celebrity Big Brother house for the upcoming series next year, but turned down a huge cash deal.
She said she would be far more interested in stripping for Playboy if the opportunity was offered, rather than taking part in the reality show. However, baring all wouldn’t be a new venture for the X Factor star after she posed naked for The Sun just a few months back.
Talking to The Sun about her thoughts on her possible Playboy opportunity, she said: “I’d pose for Playboy if it was done tastefully.
“Of course, they would have to speak to my management and make sure the fee was right. I don’t see myself as a sex symbol but if the money was right, then I would do it.”
Whilst adding:”I got offered a lot of money to do Celebrity Big Brother but I turned it down. I’m not interested in doing reality shows. That’s not what I want to do. I want to put out credible music.”
“I don’t really like to put myself in a category as a novelty act. I’m a hip-hop artist. I’ve been a musician all my life. After all, I do have a degree in music from one of the best universities in the UK.”
The rapper whose real name is Anna Georgette Gilford recently also came out as gay; with her naked photoshoot aimin to mark her big announcement.
She claimed that her biggest girl crush ever is US diva Queen Latifah. Talking to The Sun, she said: “I’ve had a thing for her for f***ing ages. Literally. She’s an A-list celebrity so how can I get anywhere near her, do you know what I mean?” before adding that she also had a thing for X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger. Unfortunately, Honey admitted she never got to act upon her feelings whilst on the show: “Obviously Nicole is very attractive and she’s got an amazing body. But obviously I know that she’s straight, we never really sat down and got to know each other.”
