Former X Factor contestant Honey G performed an exclusive reveal of her new single on Good Morning Britain today – however many fans who tuned in weren’t loving it at all.
It’s been over a year since the rapper took part in the singing contest, therefore many fans have been eagerly awaiting her music comeback. Appearing on the ITV morning show today, Honey performed her brand-new track named ‘Riding Hot’.
She later went on to talk to presenter Ben Shepherd, saying: “I’ve been recording my album and laying it down.”
The single seems to repeat these exact two words of the title over and over again and even Ben decided to take a dig at the star for the lame lyrics during the interview:
“I’m not sure I got the title of that. What was it? What? ‘Riding Hot’?” he said.
He soon went on to praise her though for creating such a ‘catchy’ track, even confessing that his own children will be chanting the lyrics soon enough.
“That’s one of the things isn’t it Honey, about you and what you do with your music and your raps? It’s often about getting a catchy little hook out there. My kids will be rapping that all day!! before quipping at the end of the interview: “If you want to listen to the new single, I think it was called ‘Riding Hot’.”
However, viewers of the show were far from impressed with the new single – but many confessed they didn’t have very high expectations.
“Seriously??!! It’s not rap, it’s CRAP!!! Why give her airtime?? She’s taking up a place that a decent talented person should be getting!” one viewer wrote on social media.
Another questioned: “Seriously does anybody really buy that garbage from Honey G?”
“Desperate times call for desperate measures, however anyone but Honey G and her crap rap, your booking agent needs to be hung, drawn and quartered a la Game of Thrones.”
“Sorry won’t be buying Honey G’s new song it’s awful. Thought we’d seen the last of her”.
“No. No.NOOOOO. Sorry but everything about Honey G is painfully bad”.
Whilst another tweeted regular GMB presenter Piers Morgan to comment on the matter: “@piersmorgan wishing you were on GMB this morning, I’d like to think your opinion on the Honey G single would have been your normal brutal honesty, my ears are still bleeding”.
If you’d thought you’d heard enough, Honey also went on to reveal that she will be going on tour around the UK from next month with her new album.
“It’s called Honey Loving” she told the presenter.”It’s going to be around Valentine’s Day, hence ‘Honey loving’. We are going to be at select venues throughout the UK, so just keep checking my social media and website”.
Honey G embarrasses herself live on Good Morning Britain
However, during her appearance on the show this morning, Honey was mortified when she found out that viewers had been watching her having a mini-tantrum live on air.
Realising that she had only been given a small spot, she asked Ben and co-presenter, Charlotte Hawkins: “We’re not coming back to me?”
Aware that the cameras were rolling, Charlotte replied hesitantly: “This is it. We’ll come back to you. Thank you for coming in today.”
With her performing career now back on track, some viewers are convinced that we may be seeing Honey G enter the Celebrity Big Brother house this evening.
Honey recently came out as a lesbian and a sneak-peak clip of an unknown housemate discussing their sexuality was released on the CBB official Twitter page. The housemate in question described their coming-out experience as ‘life-changing’.
‘What I’ve discovered since coming out is I don’t feel as if I’m telling a lie or covering anything up…and that is the most amazing gift.” the unknown housemate declares in the clip.
In an interview with The Sun, Honey discussed her sexuality back in July 2017. Talking to the newspaper, Honey opened up about having her first experience with a woman at the age of sixteen and discussed the fact that she had had a few relationships with men too.
“I do worry about homophobia” she once said. “I feel now is the right time to let everyone know that I’m gay. I have dabbled with men before, but I’m gay and looking for a female partner that I want to settle down with.” she added. “I was in the process of kind of deciding if I was going to stay with the boyfriend that I had at the time.
“I was DJing in Ayia Napa and I met someone out there and that was the turning point. I didn’t have real girlfriends until I finished university.”
“I just wasn’t ready to come out to the public, you know?” she discussed when mentioning her initial audition for the X Factor.
“One of the questions that Simon asked me in that first audition was, ‘Have I got a boyfriend?’ And I was a bit defensive at the time because I was just like, ‘No, I’m single.’”
“Obviously I get worried about homophobia because there are a lot of homophobic people out there. They might not like it. So I was worried about that.”
Honey recently appeared in a Channel 5 show entitled Celebrity 100% Hotter in which she was stripped of her trademark sunglasses and cap that she has come to be identified with.
Discussing the experience, Honey said: “I can’t say too much but they did completely transform my whole appearance”.
Ben asked her the all-important question: “They took away the glasses and the cap? And trainers?”
“Yeah, they did. I went into it with a light-hearted attitude. It was a good laugh.” she responded.
Fans of the show thought it was hilarious that her ‘transformation’ may only involve the switch of her hat and glasses, with many taking to Twitter to joke that her new look probably won’t be too dramatic a change.
“Honey G has had a makeover? What have they done? Changed her sunglasses?” one wrote.
“Honey G makeover? What makeover? Still just as annoying and looks exactly the same,” another commented.
