Following on from last years massive success there was a celebrity Gogglebox last night (03/11/17) and it provided an amazing insight into Jeremy Corbyn and his real life struggles.
The show was in aid of Stand Up To Cancer, an annual fundraising campaign that brings the UK together to accelerate progress in life-saving cancer research. Stand Up To Cancer takes developments in the labs and accelerates them into brand new tests and treatments for cancer patients who need them right now. Originating in the USA, Stand Up To Cancer launched in the UK in 2012 backed by a host of celebrities, all intent on showing cancer who’s boss.
Corbyn appeared on the show with Jessica Hynes who’s probably best known for playing Cheryl in the popular comedy ‘The Royal Family’. He appeared relaxed barring one failed high five attempt. As they sat together on a yellow settee Jeremy decided to open a bag of Cadburys Celebrations, something which he made look a lot harder than it should have been.
Speaking to Jessica he said: “I think we need to eat something unhealthy, like… crisps!”
But he then reached for a bag of Cadburys Celebrations – which as anyone with an idea of food knows, are quite clearly chocolates and not crisps.
This is when the fun started, he looked confused as he tore the top of the packet off only to be confronted by a zip lock opening.

He went on to say he needed a knife because he was struggling to get into the tasty treats. Jessica, hesitantly leaned in to assist and between them managed to crack the packet open.
Gogglebox viewers couldn’t believe their eyes and took to social media to air their views:
If Jeremy Corbyn struggles to open a bag of Celebrations, I'm not sure I want him running my country #Gogglebox

He didn’t seem to be having the best of nights though.
As they watched University Challenge a question came up which Jessica thought Jeremy may know the answer to.
The famous Gogglebox voiceover man was heard to say: “More brainy boffins were answering more baffling questions on BBC Two.”
University Challenge then appeared on the screen with the host Jeremy Paxman asking a question to the contestants:
“Against which city state did Rome fight the three Punic Wars in the third and second centuries?”
Hynes face lit up as the Labour leader appeared to suggest he may know the answer to the question.
Staring at the screen after thinking about the question he confidently answered “Sparta”. Much to his disappointment though the answer was Carthage.
Jessica burst into laughter after the answer was revealed and he seemed quite embarrassed.
Trying to cover up for his mistake he said: “Oh third century? I got the wrong century. Of course, Carthage, of course.”
Some people weren’t happy with his appearance on the show though:
“Channel 4 you could’ve spared us and replaced Jeremy Corbyn with literally anyone else on #Gogglebox.”
Jessica said: “You can tell we didn’t go to university” as they struggled to answer some of the questions.

Corbyn also failed to identify the Trainspotting opening theme, jokingly saying:”I should have got that – me and trains innit”
Moving on from there the pair were treated to Nigella Lawson cooking Turkish Eggs for breakfast.
Mr Corbyn was quick to criticise her technique of using a tea strainer when making the dish and suggested he has a much better recipe.
He was seen shaking his head when she was poaching her eggs saying: “You don’t do egg whites that way!” as she cracked an egg into a tea strainer.
“That’s ridiculous!” he said, “You know how to do egg white. You break the egg, pour it from one to the other, one to the other then you have the egg, you have the white! What the hell do you use a tea strainer for?”
He went on to reveal his favourite recipe to Jessica: “What I like is a coddled egg. You get a pot…put a little bit of olive oil in, put some herbs in, break your egg in then add on top chopped spinach, sliced very thin cheese, screw the lid down, stand it in hot water for 7 1/2 minutes, take it out, put it in a plate and eat it with a spoon. Delicious.”
Jeremy did not think Nigella Lawson would approve of his recipe though, saying to his viewing partner: “I don’t think she would…I think she’d say you’ve done it so much wrong, you’re just really off it. She wouldn’t be doing my coddled eggs.”

Blue Planet II the popular documentary voiced by Richard Attenborough seemed to raise his spirits though. He praised him by saying:
“Attenborough is so good isn’t he.”
“We just know so little about the ocean, that’s why Attenborough is so good.”
As he watched a female fish transform into a male, Mr Corbyn exclaimed: “Wow!”, and raised his eyebrows.
Other celebrities appeared on the show, including Ed Sheeran, Big Narstie, Example, Sharon and Ozzy Osborne, Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp.
Liam Gallagher appeared with his Mum Peggy and his son Gene and the former Oasis frontman didn’t disappoint.
In 2014, his brother Noel Gallagher appeared on the show with Kate Moss but there was no sign of him in this episode.
Yes brothers and sisters tune into the goggle box tonight 3 generations of the mighty Gallaghers as you were LG x

Viewers were impressed with Liam even though he was just relaxing and watching telly. He sat there in his parker pouring tea while his son and mum watched on.
At one point, while watching Blue Planet II he referred to the great David Attenborough as ‘God’ which lots of people on twitter agreed with.
liam gallagher just summed up the nations feelings about david attenborough "he's like god isn't he? #Gogglebox

The moment when viewers really fell for Gallagher though was when they showed a cancer awareness video about a lady called Annalesha. Once the film finished he seemed to sit there and contemplate what he’d just witnessed. He then moved in for a playful headlock on his son Gene.
Liam Gallagher getting his son in a headlock just then was the purest expression of love i've seen on tv this year. #Gogglebox

A beautiful moment which obviously didn’t go unnoticed by fans of Gogglebox.
It was a great show though, raising money for an amazing charity.
