According to reports, the daytime chat show (I can’t think of anything else to call it) host Jeremy Kyle is set to walk down the aisle for a third time, after proposing to his child’s former nanny.
According to reports made by the Evening Standard, the 52 year old former life insurance salesman, popped the big question to former nanny Vicky Burton, 36, last week while the couple were on holiday in the Caribbean.
The happy couple went public with their relationship about a year ago.
Vicky Burton had previously been a nanny to Jezza’s three children, who were all born to ex-wife Carla Germaine.
A source close to the TV star told the Sun: “Jeremy is completely loved up with Vicky – she’s put a smile back on his face. He chose the Grenadines because it’s a very romantic place and they’re ecstatically happy.
“Both sets of families are absolutely chuffed for them.”
Vicky was nanny to Jeremy and ex-wife Carla Germaine’s three children Alice, 14, Ava, 12, and Henry, eight.
After the pair announced their relationship, ex-wife Germaine said that she was “in shock”, as well as adding that his new partner was “my nanny for nine years, she looked after my babies”.
Jeremy met his first wife, Kirsty Rowley, in 1988 when he was still a life insurance salesman and a radio advertiser, and the pair were married the following year. However, it wasn’t exactly married bliss for the pair and they had their issues as Kyle battled his gambling addiction.
In 2007, the Sun reported that she claimed that Kyle had taken money from her personal bank account without her permission to fund his gambling addiction.
Carla – Jeremy Kyle’s second husband – met Jeremy while he was a radio DJ when she won a competition to marry a stranger, cited her husband’s “unreasonable behaviour” in their divorce, but England polo player James Carr, 26, later claimed he’d had an affair with the then Mrs Kyle.
She said: “The man I married wouldn’t have been out of place as a guest on his own show.”
“The programme is crass and embarrassing and for Jeremy to act like some kind of agony uncle is sheer hypocrisy.”
She also claimed he ran up thousands of pounds’ worth of debt due to his addiction.
Jeremy himself opened up about this battle with gambling in his biography, writing: “Gambling is the mistress that truly seduced me. I will never understand what a hit of heroin feels like, but gambling I get. Big time.”
“Plenty of days I can remember taking money out of the cashpoint and going to the bookies and then losing and going again to the cashpoint — and back again and again . .
“There was this pull and suddenly I was chasing money, trying to achieve something that has never been achieved: making a bookie poor.”
His second marriage to model Carla ended in 2016.
In a statement at the time, he said: “After 13 years of a generally happy marriage my wife and I, Carla, have separated amicably.
“We have sadly grown apart over recent years and been living apart since earlier this summer.”
Following the divorce, he confirmed his new love on ITV’s Loose Women, saying: “It’s a new relationship, a new chapter. I’m very happy, thank you very much, let’s move on with our lives.”
Jezza caught the eye of his first and won her over apparently with his impression of Frank Spencer from the sitcom Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em, and only two months later they were engaged.
They had a traditional white wedding in July 1989 at her family home in Almondsbury, near Bristol.
But the cracks in their relationship soon started to show.
On honeymoon in the Maldives after a blazing row, Kirsty chucked her wedding ring into the sea.
Their daughter Harriet was born in 1990, but only a year later the pair were divorced.
As well as claiming that Jeremy Kyle took money out of her bank account without her permission, she also said he had faked a life-threatening heart condition and run up £4,500 debt at the bookies and on betting phone lines.
Jeremy then met former model Carla Germaine in 1999 when he was presenting for a Birmingham based radio station. Unsurprisingly, the marriage to a strange failed, but she then fell for Jezza and the pair were married in 2002.
After the pair separated in 2015 and divorced in 2016, Jezza let slip to a guest that he rarely slept with his wife towards the end of their relationship, saying: “I haven’t had sex for ages myself.”
Then, to make matters worse, The Sun revealed that wife Carla had slept with the 25 year old England polo player James Carr while Jeremy was away in the USA filming the American version of the Jeremy Kyle Show.
James and Carla became friendly after she went to him for polo lessons.
They had flirty chats and swapped numbers after a night out in a bar.
James said: “One night Carla called after midnight asking if I wanted to meet her outside for a cigarette.
“We had a smoke and a chat and she told me Jeremy was in America. Then suddenly we began kissing.
“Without talking, I took her hand and led her inside my house.
“Carla took her high heels off so her shoes wouldn’t make a noise on our stone stairs. We didn’t want to wake my housemates.
“We started having sex — it was amazing.”
The polo star claimed that the pair had sex up to 20 times during “six or seven” separate get togethers while Jeremy was away filming, and pretty soon the affair became the “talk of the town” in their hometown of Ascot.
However, when the courts granted Jeremy and Carla a “quickie” divorce in a hearing that lasted just 20 seconds, it was Carla that sighted “unreasonable behaviour” for their split.
Well, it seems to me that Jeremy Kyle has made a career out of moralising with people who are perhaps, with all due respect, not perceptive enough to know that they are being taken advantage of and having their real life-altering problems laughed at for the sake of “good” TV.
All the cheating, lying and deceit that Jeremy has dealt with over the years, all of the people he has verbally taken apart and talked down to and acted condescending towards, it seems as though it’s been a case of art imitating life.
Well, not art exactly, but you know what I mean.
