There was a big knees up at the Queen Vic this week as the residents of Albert Square celebrated New Years Eve in the famous pub.
It didn’t seem to go down too well with the faithful fans of the show though as they pointed out a major plot hole.
The stand out point was the fact Abi Branning is dying in he hospital yet her friends and flatmates are extremely happy!
One unhappy fan tweeted “Once upon a time Abi/Ben/Jay was childhood best friends, now Abi’s fighting for her life,Ben,Jay couldn’t give a s***.”
Another one said: “There are some real continuity issues in #EastEnders. After such a cracking Christmas episode, it’s been so sloppy and full of plot holes…like it’s been thrown together in 5 mins. @bbceastenders 1) Where’s Tanya? 2) Why are Abi’s friends celebrating when she’s brain dead?”
A third commented: “So all of Abi’s friends are partying while She’s is in intensive care, Tanya is on the missing list, Josh isn’t at the hospital with Lauren, Adrian is trying to recreate “Oceans Eleven” and Abi’s 27wk baby was just handed to Max for a nice little cuddle. Ok then!! #Eastenders.”

I can't believe that Ben and Jay who both at some point loved Abi would be in any mood for partying And has anyone let Dot know? #EastEnders

Tanya’s disappearance was unbelievable really to say one of her daughters is seriously injured after falling off the roof of the Queen Vic and the other is brain dead.
People took to Twitter to ask the same question about her lack of appearance on the show.
One tweet said: “Where the hell is Tanya??? EastEnders need to be abit more realistic… #EastEnders.”
Another tweet said: “Me with Eastenders at the moment. Where’s Tanya? Where’s Lauren? Why do Abi’s flatmates act like nothing’s happened? #Eastenders.”
A third said:”As if Tanya has just gone!! I mean she was always slightly flaky as a mum, but this is awful AS IF you’d leave ur kids like that even if u weren’t coping you’d force yourself to stay #eastenders #laurenandabi.”

“Did max kill Tanya and hide her body in the broom closet? Only reasonable explanation I can think of #findtanya #EastEnders,” one person said.
Someone else wrote: “anyone going to explain why Tanya has disappeared when her daughter’s are dying/dead and been replaced by her deadbeat mother…#EastEnders.”
Cora went in with that slap! 😂🙌🏼 #Eastenders

Cora stored up all her energy for the entire year to give that slap! #EastEnders

So wait, Cora's come to the hospital to see Abi and Lauren, but Tanya is still missing 🤔 #eastenders

A small amount of people were happy that Cora did what she did though when she appeared at hospital.
One tweet said: “Yes Cora! #eastenders.”
Another commented: “Cora stored up all her energy for the entire year to give that slap! #EastEnders.”
In what seems to be a crazy twist in the whole plot though, Abi Branning has been pictured on set attending her own funeral!
If true it could be an amazing turn around for her fate on the show. The shots are of the EastEnders cast on location filming some funeral scenes, but strangely both Jacqueline Jossa who plays Lauren Branning and Lorna Fitzgerald who plays Abi are there too??
Despite the fact Abi was pronounced “stem brain dead” on Thursday’s episode, they both looked to be in good spirits and mixing with the other cast members. It’s a mircale we hear you shout!

EastEnders spoilers: Abi Branning pictured attending her own funeral as sister Lauren says an emotional goodbye
— Cris Bomb (@cris_bomb) December 30, 2017
We can’t see the funeral being Lauren Brannings as the doctors have said her operation was successful after she dramatically fell from the roof of The Queen Vic pub.
The pictures also show Jacqueline Jossa using a crutch which would imply she’s recovering well from her horrible injuries.
Nobody however, knows why Lorna Fitzgerald is on set filming her own funeral if indeed it is her character that has died.
Could it be the fact the actress has turned up to her own funeral is just being used as a decoy to stop people knowing it’s actually her that’s died?
One twitter user seems to think that way:
I read somewhere, maybe Walford Web, last week that they were filming on location and the person who died was also on set to throw off paps and avoid spoilers. I’ll look for the post.

Others that were seen at the funeral were her father Max Branning, who seemed to be staring thoughtfully at the ground, potentially on his own as he’s been rejected for causing Abi’s death and her uncle Jack Branning, sporting a smart suit and looking devastated.
Again though, Tanya Branning was absent from the photo’s we have seen so could it even be her that’s in that coffin?
Josh Hemmings who is Lauren Brannings lover was also pictured at the funeral. Rumours are that he and Lauren are to move to Glasgow together and this only fuels the speculation as Jaqueline Jossa is set to leave the soap.
There is no hard evidence yet that Abi is the one that has passed away but she has to be the bookies favourite following the latest scenes where he doctors have told Max Branning that there is nothing more that they can do for his daughter,
“No it’s not right. She’s moving her eyes and blinking,” Max told the consultant after he had seen movement in his daughter.”
The doctors weren’t giving any hope at all though telling Max: “I’m trying to explain Mr Branning. It’s involuntary.
“I’m so sorry, the test results are conclusive. Mr Branning. Abi has zero chance of regaining consciousness.
“Abi is brainstem dead,” he declared as Max looked devastated while staring at his daughter.
Both actresses are due to leave the show and Jake Wood who plays Max Branning has posted some brilliant selfies paying tribute to the two ladies.
The funny pictures show the 2 girls being stretchered away after their fall from the pub roof and show how much fun they’ve had filming these scenes.
Along with the photo’s he tweeted he also put:
“Love these supremely talented young ladies so much…especially when they put up with my inappropriate selfies 🤣👌🏼📸.
“Will miss them both at work a lot 😢 #eastenders @LornaFitz0 @jacquelineMjos”.
